AJANI WASHINGTON
“I want to evolve the music industry by capitalizing on the foundation artists like Kendrick, J. Cole, MF Doom, and many others laid.”
His Story
Ajani Washington hails from Stockton, CA. His music aims to fuse East Coast beats and energy with West Coast wagger while keeping the music high energy and forward thinking. His artefacts he will be sharing are Audio samples of released projects and unreleased projects I plan on dropping in the future.
“My Grandfather moved from Nigeria to America to pursue his Bachelors and Doctorate Degree. He received his Bachelors at Pepperdine and then moved to Stockton to complete his Pharmaceutical degree at the University of Pacific. That's where he met my Grandmother. My Grandma was the first born of a huge family and the majority of her childhood was spent traveling because she was a military baby.
She was born in New Jersey, moved to Japan for a large amount of her teenage years, and then they settled in Stockton. My Grandma and Grandpa has 2 kids, my mother and auntie, but unfortunately split apart. My Grandfather remarried and had 3 more kids and my mom developed mental illnesses throughout her teenage years so when I was born she was deemed unfit to take care of me according to CPS. My Grandma raised me and my Uncle (The first born son of my Grandpa and Step-Grandma) helped me with getting to college by being a huge mentor in my teenage years.”
“Music is an important aspect for me to express myself, almost like a form of therapy. Writing is crucial and I want to evolve my pen every step if the way.”
Check out his music in his own words below.
Quarrels.
This is another unreleased song produced by Nitro. This song is meant to dive into the reality of having “Quarrels” with people. If you have them it will almost always end in the end of the relationship unless handled correctly.
aniMULL.
This song is produced by Gamma, another producer from France that I don’t know personally, but is REALLY good. I love his beats and this song I want to drop later down the line once I am better at audio production. This song is about the feelings I have being a black man in the place I exist. And the fear that comes with it.
curse killa.
This song is another run down of the trauma I experienced. It ended up manifesting itself into 2 minutes of just trauma dumping.
Deleted.
This song is a testament to removing bad things out of your life.
YOU!
This is supposed to be an empowerment track going over the internal dialogue one experiences while dealing with problems bigger than what meets the surface.
Mirrors & Mazes.
This is one of my favorite songs, and I want it to be a representation of going down the history of your being and understanding how you got to where you are today.
e-race.
This song is about the struggle of finding humanity in a world full of robotic actions and individuals who care for greed more than people
Higher.
This song is about thinking things through with a “Higher” frame of mind
